Age range: 4-7

Written by Emily Dickinson; illustrated by Tim Hopgood
Hardback; 270 x 210 mm (P); 32pp
Publishing 29 February 2024

A beautiful illustrated edition of one of the world's favourite poems, perfect for the youngest readers.

Hope is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

Follow one brave little bird as it flies around the world, giving hope to people everywhere through its beautiful tune. Even a terrible storm can't dampen this little bird - like hope, it continues unabashed, never asking anything from the people who take comfort from it.

This stunning book, illustrated by best-selling artist Tim Hopgood, celebrates Emily Dickinson's poem and makes it accessible for pre-schoolers.

EMILY DICKINSON (1830 - 1886) was an American poet known for her simple works about love, death, and nature. Living in seclusion for most of her life, she wrote over 1,000 poems, but only 11 were published during her lifetime. Today she is considered one of the most famous and beloved poets of all-time.

TIM HOPGOOD is an award-winning picture book author and illustrator. His first book, Our Big Blue Sofa, was published by Macmillan in 2006 and won the Cambridgeshire Read it Again! award for best debut picture book. In 2008 he won the Booktrust Early Years Award for Best Emerging Illustrator, with the hugely successful WOW! Said the Owl. Recently he has combined his love of music with his love of drawing to produce a series of picture books based on classic songs - eg What a Wonderful World and Singing in the Rain which received a starred Kirkus review and was named a Publishers' Association Best Book of 2017.
